Refrigerators and freezers use a lot of electricity, particularly when they are not operating as effectively as they should. If you’re in the market for a new one, the good news is that compared with types from 10 or more years ago, they use about 60% less electrical power. The correct temperature for food is 37F inside the fridge and 0F in the freezer, and sticking to these will use a lesser amount of electricity. You can cut down how often the motor has to run by routinely cleaning the condenser, which will save on electricity.

- Mix curry paste, curry powder, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, salt, sugar, garlic & ginger in a bowl and set aside.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook onions until they are soft and caramalised.
- Stir spice mixture into the onions. Increase heat to high and cook, stirring constantly until fragrant (approx 2-3 mins).
- Stir in the tomato puree and heat through.
- Remove skillet from heat and stir into the lentils.
- Add in frozen petit pois without thawing and allow the heat from the curried lentils to heat it through.
